My logo/ badge design includes the crystal and the colours of the KISC logo. I included a scarf as I find this THE sign of a scout and also because every scout has it's own scarf, along with it's own story and journey. Something which is what the mini jamboree is about in my opinion.

It's a badge that you would get from participating in this event, the Jota Joti KISC. Questions about the Lifestyle: In general, what does a typical day look like for you as a volunteer at KISC? What types of accommodation are available for volunteers? Could you describe them a little? What are the meals like? Are they provided, and what kind of food can we expect? What facilities are available for volunteers during their free time? How are things like laundry and other personal needs handled for volunteers? What are the opportunities for socializing and recreation among volunteers outside of work hours? How is the work and rest schedule coordinated for volunteers? Is there any flexibility in it? What are some things that new volunteers should know or expect about the lifestyle at KISC? What's the most enjoyable aspect of the lifestyle as a volunteer at KISC for you? Do you have any tips or suggestions for new volunteers to make their stay more comfortable and smooth?

"Contributing directly to global Scouting, helping others learn and connect, and using my abilities in a meaningful way within the passionate KISC community would make me "consider" being a Pinkie."

The Pinkies reply...
Hello, Andrew! Our typical day starts with a morning briefing with everyone after breakfast! Then we head to our work areas (can be in Catering, running Programme...!). At midday we have lunch and relax a bit ant then head back to work again! At 6pm we have dinner and then at night we have more free time to relax or to hangout with other volunteers! But everyday is different with new tasks and challenges! For the volunteers there is accommodation in the Centre's Chalet and also in buildings in the village for Long-Term Staff. They have all the conditions and are equipped. Our meals are very diverse! We cook recipes from all around the world! They are delicious and nutritious and we also cater for many dietary requirements. For benefits such as free time activities, laundry and leisure you can check them here: https://www.kisc.ch/info-applicants/staff-benefits Work schedule is organized with the needs of the work areas but we get two days off per week to rest or to go explore this beautiful place! I think you should expect to live on 'swiss time' - we are always on time, sharply and we have meals earlier! It was different to my lifestyle, but I do enjoy it! For new volunteers I would say to bring something that reminds you of home! Also, bring comfortable clothes and shoes and anything that can be important to you during your volunteering period!

Making small changes in our habits could make a huge impact on our environment. We often get overwhelmed by the thought of having to make a huge impact through big projects and initiatives just so that we can combat climate change. However, it is important to reflect and think about the fact that simple actions, when done consistently, can make a larger impact in the long run. Simple actions such as bringing your tumbler and reusable container for meals, throwing your garbage in the proper bins, and more can make a huge impact if we do these things consistently.

"As mentioned, the thought of having the need to make a big project or initiative often stops us to actually do something for the environment. Hence why we need to focus on simple actions that can be done by anyone that can help our environment."

Hello Pinkies, I am Jewel from the Philippines. thank you for your time and dedication to the World Scout Centre initiative! My question is: What inspired you to become a part of the Pinkies, and how has your involvement impacted your life and the lives of those around you? Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer this question. Happy Scouting!

"Ever since I was young, I have been drawn to the values and principles of Scouting. Participating in Scouts activities and community service projects has always been a part of my life. When I heard about the Pinkies, I сразу knew that I wanted to be a part of it. Joining the Pinkies meant being able to give back to the community on a larger scale. The idea of volunteering at KISC really appealed to me because of the opportunity to meet and collaborate with Scouts from all over the world ◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜"

Hi Jei! Thank you so much for taking the time to ask us a question! What inspired me to help out in KISC is to be able to live the dream and to keep it alive! I love scouting and it helped me be helpful for others, and in this environment I can be helpful to scouts all around the world! :) This experience will impact your life in such a positive way, for me it made me realize that I am stronger than I knew. Hopefully I leave a positive impact to the people that visit, keeping the dream alive for them as well, and to make new friends. This is adobo my favourite dish from the Philippines it is made by simmering meat—commonly chicken or pork, or a combination of both—in a flavorful mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, bay leaves, and black peppercorns. To prepare it, start by marinating the meat in soy sauce, crushed garlic, and black pepper for at least 30 minutes. After marinating, sauté the garlic in a pan, then add the meat along with the marinade, vinegar, bay leaves, and a bit of water. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring, then lower the heat and let it simmer until the meat becomes tender and the sauce thickens to your liking

This activity highlights the importance of taking action to protect our planet. As Scouts, we have a responsibility to lead the way in sustainability by making mindful choices. Through practices such as reducing waste, recycling, saving energy, and spreading awareness, we can make a significant difference in reducing our impact on the environment. It encourages us to engage in simple yet powerful actions that promote a cleaner and healthier planet for everyone.

"Reflection: Through this activity, I have learned the importance of small actions that can lead to big changes for our planet. It made me realize that every Scout has the power to make a positive impact, whether it's by reducing waste, conserving energy, or protecting wildlife. By practicing sustainable habits and spreading awareness, I believe we can all contribute to preserving the beauty of nature for future generations."

There is a unique natural and historical monument in Ukraine - Dovbush Rocks. When I arrived there, I was amazed by the beauty of the place, but also saddened by what I saw: graffiti on the stones and garbage between the rocks. This is an example of the negative trace that people can leave behind, instead of admiring nature, they leave traces of indifference.

"I often think about my track, not only ecological, but also human. I try to leave a good mark behind me: to help, to support, to take care of nature. But I also understand that sometimes I can leave a mark that I don't notice, and I want to become more attentive to that."

Yuliia
Sokil, Ukraine

Hello to all Pinkies, I'm Yuliia and I am from Ukraine, I learned that every Scout can come and volunteer at the World Scout Centre in 2021, when my friend went to you. My friend has a very good level of English, and I ,probably, have a bad one. I participate in various international events, among them were the 25th World Scout Jamboree and Roverway. Coming to these events, I was sure that my level of English would be enough to communicate with everyone. But sometimes there are moments when I don’t understand what they are saying to me, and I just nod my head, smile, and try to run away into the tent. I would like to ask, do the Scouts at the World Scout Centre have a fear that I won’t understand you because of your level of English? How do you try to understand each other if you can’t explain it in English? Or do they select you at the World Scout Centre based on your level of English? Thanks for the answer) Sorry for the mistakes •_•

"I would be forced to become Pinkie if I improved my English and finished studying. But probably if I saw the vlog "One day in the life of Pinkie" or something like that. Because I see what you have on Instagram, but I can't imagine what you do off camera. You probably hang out, travel together or something like that)"

The Pinkies reply...
Hi, Yuliia! Thank you for your question! To be a volunteer in the World Scout Centre you have to be able to communicate well in written and spoken english! As we are all from different countries, some have English as their mother tongue, some learned it throughout the years! Sometimes we face challenges on communicating, but we ask the other person kindly to repeat or to say it slower, if needed we use an online translator. We are not selected based on our english level but it's very important to be comfortable in the language!

Mini Jamboree refers to a small-scale scouting activity that still has the spirit of adventure, brotherhood, and learning. KISC stands for Kandersteg International Scout Center, an international scouting center located in Switzerland. The year 2025 indicates the time of the event.global symbol of the scout movement. I choose a deep green color for my scraf because, to me, it represents the deep connection that scouts have with nature, personal growth and scouts resillience. It also can represent the trees, the moss and the green fields that surround Kisc, that after every winter come back stronger and greener than before (wich in a deeper way, might simbolize that scout resillience that we have, coming out stronger from a difficult moment). I also choose three stripes to represent the thre "Princípios" or Principles that my scout federation (CNE - Corpo Nacional de Escutas) have defined for us.

"My Rover scarf (the same scarf for all rovers of CNE) is incredible important to me because it is one of the visible signs of my commitment to the path I have chosen to take (scouting) with courage, service and faith. And to me every fold of my scarf hold all the stories, memories and lessons that I have gained by being a scout. "

In Portugal we make “Bacalhau à brás” - codfish with potatoes and egg! The ingredients are: 600 g desalted codfish; 200 g straw potato; 6 eggs; 1 onion - sliced; 4 garlic cloves; 2 bay leaves; black olives; olive oil; parsley - chopped; salt; black pepper To make it you should: Shred cooked salted cod and sauté it with finely chopped onions and garlic in olive oil. Add thinly fried potato sticks and mix well. Stir in beaten eggs and cook gently until just set. Finish with chopped parsley and black olives. Its one of my fav meals!

1. Orange: Energy, creativity, and vibrancy. Enthusiasm and openness. 2. Pink: Love, compassion, and kindness. Hope and positivity. 3. Green: Growth, nature, and peace. Balance, comfort, and renewal. 4. Blue: Calmness, thoughtfulness, and stability. Peace, tranquility, and sincerity. 5. Purple: Creativity, spirituality, and sometimes mystery and luxury. 6. White: Purity, clarity, and peace. Innocence and new beginnings. 7. Yellow: Joy, energy, and brightness. Happiness, hope, and optimism. Wisdom and knowledge. Overall interpretation: If these colors are combined in a knitting square, they could represent a blend of positivity, purity, creativity, and energy, with a focus on hope, peace, and renewal. It might also reflect a mix of calm and balance with a spirit of optimism and vitality, giving an overall impression of inner peace and optimism for the future.

"The colors in the stitching square represent a mix of positive meanings: Orange: Energy and enthusiasm. Pink: Love and compassion. Green: Growth and peace. Blue: Stability and calm. I am scout in the danish minority in Sydslesvig (Northern Germany). Our scarf has a red flag with a white cross in one corner - that is a symbol of the danish flag (our corps was the only youth organisation that was not prohibeted under WW2 and for at show our feelings for Denmark we "hided" the danisch flag by saying the cross was a christian symbol...) Then there is a raven - that´s one of Odins raven Hugin eller Munin, from the old nordisk mythology.

"Our scarf symbolizeses the membership to the danish minority, our danisch background. All scouts in our korps have the same scarf, so that´s characteristic for our korps and we can always easily recognize our fellows. "

Here's my Scouting uniform from the Philippines! I used sticky note:> (the necker/scarf should be color red but I don't have any red color right now>ᴗ<

"My Scout uniform is a symbol of everything that Scouting stands for. It represents the commitment I have made as a member of the Scout movement - commitment to the Scout Law, and the ideals of helpfulness and friendship. It's a constant reminder to stay loyal to those values and to uphold them throughout my daily life•ᴗ•"

I designed a pentagon like the KISC logo and also put a snowflake, i put WOSM logo and like a global/world symbol that represent scouts in every country:) and also put a compass because the word compass comes from the Latin words "com" meaning “together,” and "passus" meaning “pace or step”. Together, the word compass means to step together or to journey together^-^ and the color blue represents trust and loyalty ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

"It motivates me to know that a lot of scouts from other countries would see my design and what I'm writing right now. Creativity is a big part of my daily life. I love trying new things and exploring different ways of doing things. When I'm faced with a problem, I try to come up with creative solutions instead of just doing what's always been done before. I find that using my imagination and thinking outside the box helps me come up with better ideas and solutions. I also try to add a bit of creativity to my everyday tasks, like finding the most efficient way to get a task done or finding new recipes to try outദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧"

My scarf is my group scarf, 1st Harwell (St. Matthew’s) Scout Group, based near Oxford, UK Fun fact, this scarf was the UK millennium scarf but our group scout leader loved it and made it our group scarf in 2002!

"My scarf represents my scouting journey and scouting family. I’ve had this scarf for 18 years now, it’s seen so many adventures with great people, it represents all the awards I’ve achieved and represents how I am passing everything on to the next generation. "

My square represents harmony between nature, peace, and positivity. The gradual blend of colours shows how these values can come together smoothly to form a balanced life. I designed it so the colours on the edges could align with neighbouring squares, making it part of a unified whole.

"I thought about unity and connection while designing the pattern. I wanted my square to not only stand out with meaning but also fit in with others. I imagined each square as a different person's story and values, and together, we build a strong and colourful community."

Indonesia has a dessert in the North Sumatra region of the Simalungun tribe called 'Nitak'. This food is made from rice flour, brown sugar, pepper, roasted coconut. This food is also generally for traditional ceremonies, but now it has become most of the desserts of the Simalungun people in Indonesia. Scout friends can try it, it tastes savory and spicy salty.

"This activity really helped me in expressing my abilities in introducing several activities, food and so on, not only that, this activity also introduced me to KISC."

I would like to ask how new job vacancies are opened and how much money is needed to stay there? What is the minimum amount that someone has to bring with them apart from the money for the transportation to the camp?(I know that it is a voluntary activity, however I'm not sure if a volunteer has to pay for his meals or other things.) Thank you!

"It gives me the chance to live at a different part of the world, get to know people that haven or more common things with me (the principal one:being a scout and having this spirit), get to know people with different culture from around the world and have an extraordinary experience.Overall it seems as the best form of a scouting experience."

The Pinkies reply...
Hi, Lydia! Thank you for the question, you can see our open vacancies here: https://www.kisc.ch/job-vacancies But throughout the year other positions do open, keep an eye on the website and on our social media! As volunteers, we have many benefits and some of them are that the Centre provides accommodation and meals! You can see all the benefits here: https://www.kisc.ch/info-applicants/staff-benefits. As a short-term staff you should definitely bring some money with you for extra expenses, as long-term staff you can be given pocket money.

"I didn’t think about my carbon footprint that much before taking the test. When I saw the result is 4.5 planets. I was surprised and a little sad. This means that my lifestyle consumes more resources than the planet can provide. Now I understand how important it is to pay attention to my daily habits: transportation, food, clothing, and electricity consumption. I can give this test to my friends, and spread awareness about carbon footprint among my friends, scouts, and on social media. I can try giving a little lecture about it, or creating a post on Instagram"

I am grateful for their support and kindness, which have contributed to my personal growth. In 2019, the first time I visited KISC, I had made a scarf with my local scout camp (Beaumont) patch on it, and gave that scarf to the KISC front desk. I was happily surprised to see that scarf hanging up when I visited KISC during the "see you in 100 years" event at the end of 2023!

On March 29, We the Senior Scouts from Outfit 141 organized an inspiring outreach program, “Share a Meal, Share a Future,” at Community Transformation Inc. in Brgy. Kalikid Norte. To make the event more meaningful, the we engaged participants in enjoyable games and distributed school supplies, essentials, and food to both the elderly and young individuals. Although a simple gesture, the initiative aimed to bring joy, inspire hope, and encourage the recipients to continue striving for a brighter future.

"As a Senior Scout, I’d consider becoming a Pinkie because it’s more than just volunteering—it’s living the Scouting spirit on a global level. The idea of serving at a place like Kandersteg International Scout Centre, where Scouts from all over the world come together, really excites me. It’s a chance to build friendships beyond borders, learn about different cultures, and challenge myself in a new environment."

According to the history of my Unit, the three colors of my scarf represent: - Green is for fields and nature: agriculture is one of the great pillars of our city. A place of research and knowledge in this area. - Yellow refers to one of the symbols on our city's coat of arms: the three keys. Yellow symbolizes the keys. - The gray of the scarf is actually a reflective strip (yes, like on fluorescent vests). Very useful for finding our Scouts in the dark! A rather funny topic of discussion when we meet other Scouts.

"I've had other scarves in the past, but this one is particularly important to me because it represents all my experience as a Scout leader. I arrived when my unit was founded, I've seen it grow, and I've grown with it. In the next few days, it will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and I'm proud to still be here!"

Does it have a positive impact to others?

"I would consider becoming a pinkie if they have a positive impact that will not only help me but also others and also inspire them."

The Pinkies reply...
Hi, Bela! Thank you for your question! The main purpose of a pinkie is to volunteer in the World Scout Centre, in Kandersteg - Switzerland! We have many roles and tasks, such as cooking, housekeeping, running activities for scouts from around the world and we are open 365 days a year! Our mission is to bring Scouts and Guides of the World together in an alpine environment and to inspire and empower young people in the creation of a better world - so yes, it does have an impact in others as we have thousands of guests yearly! :)

Its sort of like a family tree but with scouting tradition. looking back I was invested by my leader, he was invested my his leader in the 80s, and he was invested in the 50s.
