Hello to all Pinkies, I'm Yuliia and I am from Ukraine, I learned that every Scout can come and volunteer at the World Scout Centre in 2021, when my friend went to you. My friend has a very good level of English, and I ,probably, have a bad one. I participate in various international events, among them were the 25th World Scout Jamboree and Roverway. Coming to these events, I was sure that my level of English would be enough to communicate with everyone. But sometimes there are moments when I don’t understand what they are saying to me, and I just nod my head, smile, and try to run away into the tent. I would like to ask, do the Scouts at the World Scout Centre have a fear that I won’t understand you because of your level of English? How do you try to understand each other if you can’t explain it in English? Or do they select you at the World Scout Centre based on your level of English? Thanks for the answer) Sorry for the mistakes •_•

"I would be forced to become Pinkie if I improved my English and finished studying. But probably if I saw the vlog "One day in the life of Pinkie" or something like that. Because I see what you have on Instagram, but I can't imagine what you do off camera. You probably hang out, travel together or something like that)"

Hello! Well, my question is more about how you've been able to reach such an impressive point? What has your path been like? Or what kind of activities did you do in your troop/clan? And a slightly off-topic question, if you could recommend a movie, which one would it be?

"I don't think I'd ever planned it as such, but if I had to be right, it would definitely be the idea of being able to do physical activity that motivates others to participate in more strenuous activities. Such as mountaineering, hiking, or even getting them to find new hobbies through physical activity! Those types of activities or programs, for me, tend to be the most exciting and challenging. So, that's why I'd like to be a pinkie. If I can share my passion for those activities, then I won't hesitate to do it!"

Hey Pinkies! I’m inspired by your amazing spirit and global teamwork at KISC. Could you please share how I can become a part of your volunteer family and contribute to the magic of the World Scout Centre?

"My Scouting journey began in 2016 with the BIAM Model School & College Scout Group, where I grew from a young Scout to a Senior Patrol Leader and now a Trainer. Through national and international camps, SDG-based projects, and recognitions like the MOP Ring Badge and National Service Award, I’ve learned the true meaning of service and global friendship. As an amateur radio enthusiast (S21SPL), I love connecting with people across distances — just like the Pinkies do at KISC. Becoming a Pinkie would be a natural next step to live my passion for service, share my experiences, and help create the same unforgettable Scouting spirit that inspired me."

Samiur Rahman Khan

I would like to ask how new job vacancies are opened and how much money is needed to stay there? What is the minimum amount that someone has to bring with them apart from the money for the transportation to the camp?(I know that it is a voluntary activity, however I'm not sure if a volunteer has to pay for his meals or other things.) Thank you!

"It gives me the chance to live at a different part of the world, get to know people that haven or more common things with me (the principal one:being a scout and having this spirit), get to know people with different culture from around the world and have an extraordinary experience.Overall it seems as the best form of a scouting experience."

On March 29, We the Senior Scouts from Outfit 141 organized an inspiring outreach program, “Share a Meal, Share a Future,” at Community Transformation Inc. in Brgy. Kalikid Norte. To make the event more meaningful, the we engaged participants in enjoyable games and distributed school supplies, essentials, and food to both the elderly and young individuals. Although a simple gesture, the initiative aimed to bring joy, inspire hope, and encourage the recipients to continue striving for a brighter future.

Good day! My name is Cláudio Teixeira(the tall one), I’m from Luanda, Angola, and I’m a proud member of Scout Group 10 here in Luanda. Being a Scout has been a very important part of my life. it has taught me values like teamwork, service, leadership, and respect for nature and people from all cultures. I truly enjoy meeting Scouts from other places and learning how we can grow together as one global family. That’s why I’m especially interested in the international side of Scouting. So, my question is about the interaction with African Scouts each year at Kisk Scout Base, how are these connections and exchanges developed, and what opportunities exist for Scouts from Africa to take part and strengthen their presence there?

Here's what I'd like to ask the volunteers at the World Scout Centre: Beyond the beautiful location, what is the single most heartwarming or memorable interaction you've had with a visiting Scout that reminded you why you chose to volunteer? What is a "day in the life" of a Pinkie really like? What's the most challenging part of the job that most people don't see? How has your time as a Pinkie changed your personal perspective on the global Scouting movement compared to what you knew from your time in your home troop? What is the most valuable skill (whether it's a practical skill like climbing or a soft skill like conflict resolution) that you've learned during your service? What advice would you give to a Scout from a country like Vietnam, who is active in their local troop and dreams of one day joining the Pinkie team?

"Based on my experiences, especially after an event like JOTA-JOTI, several things would make me strongly consider becoming a Pinkie. First, the JOTA-JOTI experience makes the idea of "World Brotherhood" feel incredibly real and tangible. Being a Pinkie seems like the ultimate way to live that idea every single day, not just for one weekend. I love organizing activities for my own units, Liên đoàn Nguyễn Trãi and Châu Gia Định, like our Mid-Autumn Festival camps. The thought of taking that passion and helping to create that "permanent mini-Jamboree" experience for Scouts from all over the world is incredibly inspiring. I would also be motivated by the chance to learn. I want to meet people from different cultures, see how they practice Scouting, and learn new skills that I could one day bring back to my Scout community here in Vietnam. The idea of representing my country and my troop on that global stage, while also serving the worldwide movement, would be a huge honor."

As a Patrol Leader in Dhaka, I'm always looking for ways to make scouting exciting. What is the most creative or impactful patrol activity you've seen at the World Scout Centre that you think every scout should experience? I manage my scout group's social media and we just organized our JOTA-JOTI event. How do you, as Pinkies, use digital tools to connect the global scout brotherhood beyond just the visitors who come to the Centre?

"As a Patrol Leader in Bangladesh , I'm already deeply involved in scouting, but becoming a "Pinkie" would be taking that to a completely different level. Honestly, the biggest thing that would make me consider it is the chance to live the "World Brotherhood" we always talk about. After organizing events like JOTA-JOTI for my group, I've seen how amazing it is to connect with scouts from other countries online. Being a Pinkie would be like that, but in real life—working, learning, and sharing traditions every single day with people from all over the planet. I also think it would be the ultimate test of my leadership skills. Taking what I learned at my PLTC and applying it in a diverse, international team would be a huge challenge and an incredible learning opportunity. Plus, I could bring my own skills to the table. I manage all the digital work for my scout group, so maybe I could contribute that way, while also learning new things from everyone else. It’s a chance to step way outside my comfort zone, represent Bangladesh Scouting, and bring back a world of experience to my patrol and my school."

What has been your most memorable or heartwarming moment while volunteering as part of the World Scout Centre — a moment that reminded you why you chose to be here?

"What would make me consider becoming a Pinkie… The desire to be part of something bigger than myself – contributing to a place where young people from around the world gather, connect, and grow together. A passion for hospitality and service – creating unforgettable experiences for every person who walks through the doors of the World Scout Centre. The chance to learn from others – being exposed to different cultures, stories, and perspectives, and growing personally through those interactions. One of the most unexpected lessons I learned as a Pinkie was how quickly people from completely different cultures can become like family. Living and working together 24/7 taught me not just about teamwork, but about empathy, patience, and how powerful small moments like a shared joke while cleaning toilets or a deep talk after night duty can be. It changed how I see people, and now, wherever I go, I carry that Pinkie spirit of openness and support with me.

"What made me become a Pinkie was the desire to live an adventure with purpose surrounded by nature, meeting people from all over the world, and giving back to the Scouting movement I grew up in. When I first became a Scout, my Scoutmaster was very important to me. He taught me so many things about how to live as a whole person, connected to the environment, and happy in my labor. When we went camping, he taught these things with his actions. When we met for regular meetings, he used the "Scoutmaster's Minute" at the end of the meeting as an opportunity to tell us stories and ask us questions that changed us. As Pinkies, do you prefer to lead by example, promoting a healthy complete person through activity? Or do you like educating someone verbally, giving them examples and ides to chew over? Or is it a mix of both-- if so, what does that mix look like for you?

What is your reason behind becoming a pinkie? What is there for you to be so engrossed with being a pinkie?

Hello, I'm Paolo from Italy, so I'm a bit too far to be a Pinkie in Kandersteg... but I'm part of the reception patrols in the Piazzole Scout Base (Italy). Our tradition isn't as old as yours, and it would be nice to share ideas and experiences.

"I liked the videos you prepared, they are made with a good scout spirit"

"How long can you be a pinkie for?"

This is our outfit in the 28th Cabanatuan City Council Jamboree, I would like to ask what are the reasons that people volunteer as pinkies and what is the importance of being a pinkie

"For me, I am not quite sure if i want to consider myself to become a pinkie but I'll try to look forward into it"

Hans
Cabanatuan City Council Scout Bureau, Philippines

I am very grateful to "pinkies" for being volunteers at the world scout center.

"What kind of activities do pinkies do? How do I come to KISC?"

Viora
"Madiun Regency Rover and Ranger Scout Council", Indonesia

1. Do the pinkies call each other pinkies, or do they call each other code names? 2. What kind of animals do y'all have at KISC? 3. How long have you been a volunteer at KISC? 4. Were you a camper before? 5. Do you like paper airplanes?

"I would go to KISC to get my COR (a leader position in the USA) to wear a pink necker and shirt (he hates pink)"

John-Michael
Troop 271, United States

Before I ask, I would like to introduce my organization, namely "Dewan Kerja Cabang Madiun" or Madiun Rover and Ranger Scout Council. It is a complementary body of the Madiun branch scout office, which is tasked with assisting all scout activities, especially for the Rover and Ranger scout groups in the Madiun area. More or less the same as Pinkie, the difference is that Pinkie is a volunteer for the World Scout Center, then we are volunteers for the Madiun Branch Scout Office After seeing the KISC JOTA JOTI activity, I was interested in seeing the preparations made by Pinkies. So, what did Pinkies do to prepare for this KISC JOTA JOTI activity? How many people are needed for this activity to be carried out?

"I would consider becoming a Pinkie at KISC because I believe in the power of international friendship, service, and learning. Being part of a global Scout family in such a meaningful place would give me the chance to grow, give back, and live the Scout values every day. The idea of helping others while surrounded by nature and diverse cultures truly inspires me."

Muhamad Akmal Fauzi
Madiun Regency Rover and Ranger Scout Council, Indonesia

In Scouting, I found that differences are not a barrier to feeling like family. Every day with my friends taught me the value of teamwork, supporting each other, and appreciating the little things. Laughter and simple chats after activities are unforgettable moments. This spirit of togetherness will always be with me wherever I go. What is the biggest challenge you face as a KISC volunteer and how do you deal with it?

"I am still considering becoming a Pinkie because in addition to the opportunity to contribute to KISC, it also improves and enhances my English skills. I believe this experience will open up many opportunities to learn more about different cultures and build international connections."

Afifah Tiara Dewi
ambalan, Indonesia

As a young member of the scouts, can I join?

"for me pinkie from kisc is the greatest friendship after world scoting which for me is very good for building new relationships"

Soleh

I would love to ask the Pinkies about their personal experiences and inspirations as volunteers at the World Scout Centre. What motivated you to become a Pinkie, and what has been your most memorable moment with Scouts from around the world? How do you manage working with people from so many different cultures, and what’s the most surprising or funny thing a Scout has ever done while at the Centre? I’m also curious about the challenges you face as volunteers and how you overcome them, as well as the advice you would give to Scouts participating in JOTA-JOTI. Lastly, how do you see technology shaping global Scouting in the future, and what skills from Scouting have had the biggest impact on your own life?

"I would consider becoming a Pinkie to connect with Scouts worldwide and help create unforgettable experiences while learning teamwork and leadership. Being part of a global community and making a meaningful impact truly inspires me."

KirushKarni
KMV Scout Troop, Sri Lanka

How do they manage so many things?

"I love Switzerland and I would love being there."

Amrit

I believe that being a "Pinkie" is quite a great honor. Just imagine scouts/adult scouts volunteering to make this event smooth-sailing! I salute you all "Pinkies"! Though I'd like to ask, what is the selection process for such a role? Is it volunteer-based? or hand-picked scouts from all around the world? *Picture above is my Troop and I from the Scout Valeriano Abello Community Scouting, Boy Scout of the Philippines*

"Well, first, I want to know the scope of how and how much I can help. Then, I need to make that I am qualified to become one. Other than that, I would absolutely be glad to become one! "

Benedict
Scout Valeriano Abello Community Scouting, Philippines

How did you make it upto the World Scout Centre? What was your pathway and how was the journey of being a volunteer?

"The route I should follow to become a pinkie! If I could make it work I am definitely going!"

Diva

What have you brought to the centre from your home country or town? (this can be a physical “thing”, or a tradition or practice you share with staff or participants)

"As an adult working in my career, I sadly cannot devote months with no salary to becoming a Pinkie, at least at this point in my life. However, I am proud to have recently signed up as a KISC Ambassador, and I’m working on ideas to promote KISC trips and KISC’s values/goals at home in the USA! "

Noah Boksansky

what kind of activities can be done at kisc, especially related to wilderness adventure and scouting?

"i want to add new experience "

Hi! I have a few questions about Pinkies!! 1. What kind of activities do they do? 2. What are the pinkies' goals? 3. What qualities does a pinkie have? 4. Why was that name chosen? what is its meaning? Thank you <3

"I would need more information before considering it, and i have very little free time, but i would gladly become a Pinkie Volunteer to learn, grow and live full-filling experiences inside the Scout Community"

Namaste from India! I’m Dhanalakshmi N, an enthusiastic Scout from the vibrant land of culture, unity, and adventure. Being part of the Scout movement has taught me that leadership is best measured by service and the bonds we build along the way. To the amazing Pinkies—what was the spark that lit your path to volunteering at the World Scout Centre? Was it a story, a person, a moment, or even a challenge that made you say, “This is where I belong”? And once you became a Pinkie, what has been your most soul-stirring or eye-opening experience so far—one that you'd carry with you forever? Your stories are an inspiration to us future volunteers, and I can’t wait to learn from your journey!

"What would inspire me to become a Pinkie? As a Scout from India, I believe in "Service before Self." The idea of joining a global circle of spirited individuals who live by that same motto fills me with excitement and purpose. For me, it’s not just about wearing the pink shirt—it’s about earning it through commitment, connection, and courage. I imagine being a Pinkie as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build friendships beyond borders, to laugh through language barriers, to learn resilience through teamwork, and to grow by embracing cultures different from my own. If I ever get the chance, I’d love to bring a little piece of India to the World Scout Centre—and carry a world of memories back with me."

DHANALAKSHMI N

What motivated you to volunteer at the World Scout Centre, and what was your most memorable experience during your time there?

"I am considering becoming a Pinkie because I want to experience living in an international environment with a spirit of community and service. I am interested in meeting people from different cultures, learning new skills, and contributing to the positive atmosphere that the World Scout Centre offers. For me, being a Pinkie is not just about volunteering, but also about personal growth, new challenges, and making lifelong friends."
